NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College men's basketball program did a lot of damage with what little it had, holding a lead up until just before the midway point of the second half, dropping another heavyweight bout by just six points, 79-73, with just seven available student-athletes.
The visitors from Holly Springs out-shot Dillard on the perimeter, but its losses in the turnover and rebounding battles proved to be too costly.
Davonte Craven has been the one constant all season long for first-year Head Coach Michael Poindexter, dropping a team-high 18 points and game-bests for both rebounds (12) as well as steals (3), spending all 40 minutes on the court while shooting 43.8% and dishing out four dimes.
Damonte Streate and Jonathon Bentley followed Craven in the scoring department with 12 each as Streate was contest's assist leader at five while Bentley logged four assists plus a tied for game-most three steals.
Catthadious Moore hit double-figures on the glass with an even ten, making all three of his field goal tries for an eight-point performance.
The Blue and White stay put in the Crescent City where it will battle the Wildcats of Wiley College on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. on The Battlefield.
