Sweats Accrues Fourth GCAC Newcomer Of The Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College women's basketball program deploys one of the top newcomers to the conference on a nightly basis as Diamond Sweats has taken home her fourth Gulf Coast Athletic Conference weekly accolade in the first six weeks of the season.

Sweats, a senior from Dallas, Texas and a Texarkana transfer, went for a staggering all-around effort in a trio of key victories last week, putting together 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while knocking down 12-of-27 (44.4%) of her shots and half of her 14 three-point tries.

The shooting guard is the team's top scorer at 15.4 points per game, is one-tenth of a rebound and a steal off the pace for the club lead (5.2 and 1.5, respectively), and fronts the assists category with 2.4 a night.

It's all Gulf Coast action from this point forward, beginning with the Wiley Wildcats four days into the new year in Marshall, Texas.
