Diamond Sweats Named Both GCAC Newcomer & Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Rust College women's basketball program has found a hidden gem (pun 100% intended) in senior Texas A&M-Texarkana transfer Diamond Sweats who dominated Crowley's Ridge and Arkansas Baptist in the team's opening week to grab the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference's full attention.

Sweats, a six-foot shooting guard from Dallas, Texas, averaged 21.5 points per game (43 total) while shooting a blistering 72% from the field as she went 18-of-25, four of those were from distance.

The Lincoln HS alum tacked on an additional nine rebounds (4.5 per game) as well as a pair of steals and assists.

Sweats and the Lady Bearcats have already gotten back to winning this week, kicking things off with a 63-43 triumph over Stillman College at home on Monday and will host LSU Shreveport at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening.
