Craven Stuffs The Stat Sheet As Bearcats Drop Overtime Thriller To Arkansas Baptist

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Rust College men's basketball program looks to have found a superstar in Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) transfer Davonte Craven but the Blue and White drop Coach Poindexter's debut in an 83-82 nail-biting overtime setback to Arkansas Baptist.

Rust shot exceptionally well on the evening, making half of its field goal attempts (30-for-60) and nearly 55% from downtown (12-of-22, 54.5%), but poor free-throw shooting (45.5%) and foul trouble (26) spoiled the party.

Craven, a six-foot-eight forward from Cleveland, did just about everything for the Cats as he exploded for a game-best 25 points and five blocks, a team-high nine boards, and hit 9-of-12 (75%) of his shots from the floor plus an assist.

Reigning GCAC Player of the Year Keshon Tabb was not to be outdone by the newcomer, dropping 24 points including six long-range bombs while dishing out a game-high five assists and swiping a pair of steals.

Both Jonathon Bentley (Texas A&M-Texarkana transfer) and Catthadious Moore (Volunteer State CC transfer) had respectable debuts in Holly Springs, combining for 16 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and two assists.

The Bearcats will need to quickly put the defeat in the rearview mirror as a date in Blue Mountain with the Toppers is on tap exactly 24 hours later on November 1.
